Is it possible to evaluate Centennial Discovery 2005 prior to purchase?
Yes, a full product evaluation is available to download from our website, the evaluation is the full product but limited to auditing up to 5 PCs, if you decide to purchase Centennial Discovery – we will provide an activation key to license the software.
What database do I require to run Discovery 2005?
Discovery 2005 may be used in conjunction with either MSDE or Microsoft SQL 2000 databases. In the event of using SQL 2000, Centennial advise that the appropriate MS SQL 2000 is on a Per Processor basis. A Processor license includes access for an unlimited number of devices or users to connect from either inside the corporate LAN or WAN or outside the firewall. Are there different versions of Discovery 2005?
There are two versions – Standard Edition and Web Edition, the Web Edition will provide web browser access to your selected users.
How is Discovery licensed?
Discovery is licensed per PC (per node) audited on the network. A licence is not required for other network devices or control centre installations.
What is the Network impact?
Unlike many other audit solutions, Discovery has been built from the ground up as a network solution, which makes Discovery highly network efficient. Initial audits typically create a package of approximately 50/60k, subsequent audits are incremental only and are typically 1-2k.
How can the client can be deployed?
To ensure maxiumum flexibility and deployment efficiency, Disocvery can be deployed by: Push from the Control Centre; Login Script; Email; Floppy Disc. The Discovery Client Agent from 2005 is ‘self updating’
Is Centennial Discovery Multi User?
Yes, Discovery will allow you to have multiple consoles to review the data on the Server. The Web Edition is a separately licensable module, which allows the users to view the Discovery data through a web browser, the user and view the data but not make make any changes.
What is the Discovery.PORTAL?
Discovery.Portal is a hosted on-line database provided by Centennial Software for its subscribed customers containing detailed information about thousands of individual software titles. The Portal provides users with an instant look-up direct from the Discovery Control Center, to enable you to establish a complete understanding of the software on your network. It includes a description of the program, website details fo rthe vendor and (where available) whether it is licensable or not.
