Saving 24 IT Administration Days A Year For Eisai Healthcare

A healthcare organisation which is part of a worldwide pharmaceutical group with headquarters in London.

Eisai markets products in two principal therapeutic areas of interest: Alzheimer's disease and acid related diseases such as peptic ulcers and oesophageal reflux. When Eisai signed up for FAST membership three years ago, the company confirmed its public commitment to ensuring a legally compliant IT environment. A manual software analysis programme was put in place to capture licensing information in spreadsheet format and determine whether the company was making the best use of its software assets.

However, although the manual programme was effective, it was time-consuming and costly to manage. So, when Eisai decided to take the next steps towards FAST Gold Certification, investing in a business support tool that would automate the software collation and analysis process simply seemed like good business sense.

Eisai had a comprehensive shopping list of requirements. The tool had to: short-circuit the manual administration process; automatically maintain accurate software asset registers; deliver reports at the touch of a button; prompt when software maintenance contracts needed renewing; and complement Eisai's recently purchased PC auditing tool - Visual Audit Pro. Software Organiser from software publisher Right2use met all these criteria.

The IT assistant who leads Eisai's software licensing administration programme, takes up the story: "After purchasing Software Organiser the main task was to transfer all the software data from the various manual spreadsheets that we were using. This was the task that took longest, but once it was completed accurately, our software licensing management flowed smoothly. The trick was to find a way of ensuring that our auditing tool and Software Organiser worked compatibly. The IT support we received was excellent and solutions were quickly found to any technical difficulties we encountered. It took just ten working days for Eisai to enter all data and assign the software to the installations from Visual Audit Pro."
