What size of audit can Visual Audit X3 conduct?
Visual Audit X3 was designed to be simple, easy to use and intuitive enough for users to conduct audits of their PCs whatever the size of their company. Starting from small server-less networks with only a few PCs Visual Audit X3 is scalable and powerful enough to conduct audits of many thousands of PCs across multiple domains and multiple continents. There is no ideal size and Visual Audit X3's user base ranges from both extremes.
 
Is it possible to evaluate Visual Audit X3 prior to purchase?
Yes, an evaluation is available to download, the evaluation is the full product but limited to auditing 5 PCs, if you decide to purchase Visual Audit X3 - we will provide an activation key to licence the software - download Visual Audit X3.
 
Do I need a dedicated server to run Visual Audit X3?
No, the Visual Audit X3 central database can be installed on a standard desktop PC, you do however require a shared folder on a server to enable you to run the collection program and to store the collected audits.
 
Is Visual Audit X3 Multi User?
No, Visual Audit X3 is a Single User application
 
How long will the audit take to run?
Around 40 seconds on a standard desktop PC, Servers and PCs with larger drives make take a little longer
 
Can I add my Software Licences to Visual Audit X3?
Yes, Visual Audit X3 has a built-in Software Licence Manager
 
Can I use Visual Audit X3 to audit machines from one central location?
You have a number of network audit options available which allow you to audit all your machines from a single central location. Ranging from Point & Click Audit on Demand via network neighbourhood or Active Directory to log in script initiated audits, with Visual Audit X3 there is no need to physically visit networked client machines helping to take the legwork out of the audit process, saving you time & money.
 
Do I need to visit each PC to install the auditing client?
In most cases, there is no need to visit each PC to install the client as this can be done automatically over the network (using the Audit On Demand feature) or the audit can run without an installed client service (if using login script). To install the client on a remote PC the user running Visual Audit X3 must have administrative rights over the remote PC (which, in most cases, means they must be a domain administrator, not just a local administrator). Should neither method be possible manual installation of the client service is still possible.
 
Will Visual Audit X3 work with Novell Netware?
Yes. Login script based audits work well with Novell, however the Audit On Demand feature is unlikely to work in NetWare environments.
 
How can I obtain updated Software Recognition Database for Visual Audit X3?
The database is available through the Web Gold Subscription, subscribers can simply login and download the updated database. Call 01932-873330 for more details.
 
Will Visual Audit X3 work across domains / routers / subnets / firewalls etc?
As of version v12.4 Visual Audit X3 can communicate with any PC currently listed within either Network Neighbourhood or the current Active Directory Tree. To communicate with the PC is uses both Microsoft Network (smb) and TCP/IP and therefore any routers or firewalls etc should be configured to allow such traffic.
 
Does the Windows XP firewall need to be changed to allow the client service to work?
No. When the client is installed, the inbuilt Windows XP firewall will be automatically reconfigured to allow the client service to function.
 
Will Visual Audit X3 audit Mac OS based machines?
No. Visual Audit X3 is designed to audit Windows based workstations and servers

What are the Minimum System Requirements?
Minimum system requirements for the Visual Audit X3 central database:
Microsoft Windows 2000, XP, Server 2003. VISTA
Pentium 1.4 GHz processor for above.
256Mb of memory or above.
Approximately 25Mb of hard disk space (plus approximately 1Mb per audited PC).
A suitable drive for removable media audits (i.e. floppy drive or USB storage device).

To use the Audit on Demand feature, a connection to a network that supports Microsoft Networking (NetBIOS/SMB) and TCP/IP is required (NT4 domain networks and 2000/2003 Active Directory networks are suitable in most configurations).

For login script based network audits, almost any network which supports login scripts and shared folders accessible via Microsoft Windows PCs are suitable (Microsoft Windows NT 3/4, Microsoft Windows 2000/2003 and Novell Netware 3/4/5 are suitable in most configurations).

Minimum system requirements for the Visual Audit X3 collection program:
Microsoft Windows 95, 98, ME, NT, 2000, XP, Server 2003. VISTA
2Mb of available memory (on top of operating system requirements). ?A small amount a free disk space (for temporary files).
