- What size of audit can Visual Audit X4 conduct?
- Visual Audit X4 is designed to be simple, easy to use and intuitive enough for users to conduct audits of their PCs whatever the size of their company. Starting from small server-less networks with only a few PCs, Visual Audit X4 is scalable and powerful enough to conduct audits of many thousands of PCs across multiple domains and multiple continents. There is no ideal size, Visual Audit X4's user base ranges from both extremes.
- Is it possible to evaluate Visual Audit X4 prior to purchase?
- Yes, an evaluation is available to download, the evaluation is the full product but limited to auditing 5 PCs - download Visual Audit X4.
- Which database engine does Visual Audit X4 use?
- Visual Audit X4 uses the Microsoft SQL 2005 Server Express software, the freely distributable Microsoft tool.
- Do I need a dedicated server to run Visual Audit X4?
- No, the Visual Audit X4 central database can be installed on a standard desktop PC; you do however require a shared folder on a server to enable you to run the collection program and to store the collected audits.
- Is Visual Audit X4 Multi User?
- Yes, since the introduction of Visual Audit X4, it is a true SQL multi-user tool designed to let multiple user's access collected data simultaneously and opens up the opportunities to share data with third party applications and reporting tools with ease.
- How long will the audit take to run?
- Around 60 seconds on a standard desktop PC, Servers and PCs with larger drives make take a little longer.
- Can I add my Software Licences to Visual Audit X4?
- Yes, Visual Audit X4 has a built-in Software Licence Manager.
- I have a Software License management tool do I need Visual Audit?
- Yes, Visual Audit will enable you to electronically collect the inventory data from your PCs and servers. You are then able export the inventory data by creating a .CSV file for import into a Software Licensing Tool such as Software Organiser and SLAMM.
- Can I use Visual Audit X4 to audit machines from one central location?
- You have a number of network audit options available which allow you to audit all your machines from a single central location. Ranging from point & click 'Audit on Demand' via network neighbourhood or Active Directory to log in script initiated audits, with Visual Audit X4 there is no need to physically visit networked client machines helping to take the legwork out of the audit process, saving you time & money.
- Do I need to visit each PC to install the auditing client?
- In most cases, there is no need to visit each PC to install the client as this can be done automatically over the network (using the Audit On Demand feature) or the audit can run without an installed client service (if using login script). To install the client on a remote PC the user running Visual Audit X4 must have administrative rights over the remote PC (which, in most cases, means they must be a domain administrator, not just a local administrator). Should neither method be possible manual installation of the client service is still possible.
- Will Visual Audit X4 work with Novell Netware?
- Yes. Login script based audits work well with Novell; however the Audit On Demand feature is unlikely to work in NetWare environments.
- How can I obtain updated Software Recognition Database for Visual Audit X4?
- Updates to the Visual Audit X4 software and the software recognition database are included in for the first year. You can renew the maintenance annually. Call 01932-873330 or email support@softasset.co.uk.
- Will Visual Audit X4 work across domains / routers / subnets / firewalls etc?
- As of version v12.4 Visual Audit X4 can communicate with any PC currently listed within either Network Neighborhood or the current Active Directory Tree. To communicate with the PC is uses both Microsoft Network (smb) and TCP/IP and therefore any routers or firewalls etc should be configured to allow such traffic.
- Does the Windows XP firewall need to be changed to allow the client service to work?
- No. When the client is installed, the inbuilt Windows XP firewall will be automatically reconfigured to allow the client service to function.
- Will Visual Audit X4 audit Mac OS based machines?
- No. Visual Audit X4 is designed to audit Windows based workstations and servers.
- How much is shipping (postage and packing)?
- There are no delivery charges for any Visual Audit software orders that are placed with us. The software is delivered via download ensuring that not only do you receive the software quickly but also you receive the very latest version. Visual Audit products are updated and therefore this delivery method means that you can take advantage of the latest technology available and also keeps the end user cost down.
