Visual Audit X4 - New Features

Visual Audit X4 has taken the popularity and success of Visual Audit X3 and expanded upon it in many different ways.

• SQL Database
  The flat file xbase database tables are now gone and have been replaced with a Microsoft SQL database. We include the freely distributable Microsoft SQL 2005 Express Edition for those users looking for an all-in-one solution. Those users that already have Microsoft SQL 2000 or Microsoft SQL 2005 server can elect to use that instead. Using the SQL based database opens up a whole new world of opportunity for sharing data with other applications as well as the ability to easily access X4's comprehensive data from third party reporting tools.
  
• Multi User
  Whilst you've always been able to audit multiple PCs at once, X4 allows multiple users to simultaneously access the data using the main Visual Audit X4 console.
  
• Multiple Data Sets
  The concept of criteria used in Visual Audit X3 has been expanded upon, allowing you to setup multiple tabs containing different selections of data (i.e. "All PCs", "PCs in Birmingham", "All Laptops", "PCs not audited this month" etc).
  
• Shared Criteria Views
  It's now easy for one user to define different views of their data and then share them with the others on your audit teams. These views can then be used on-screen or as the basis for a report.
  
• Brand New Reporting Engine
  The new reporting engine allows you to combine the flexibility of SQL with the power of a modern drag and drop report builder. Of course we also include many default reports for you to use or customise. As well as on-screen, printable reports with customizable layouts, you can now export direct to excel and PDF (as well as the traditional csv and html exports)
  
• Modernized and Standardized Layout
  The user interface has been overhauled giving it a modern feel and is much easier to navigate, whilst retaining a level of familiarity to existing X3 users.
  
• Expanded Licence Manager
  The licence manager now allows you to define licences that can be linked to multiple specific PCs at once (rather than just a specified number).
  
• View Multiple PCs
  X4 now allows you to view multiple PCs simultaneously.
  
• New Product Library
  Whilst users can elect to use their existing X3 product recognition library, we now ship X4 with a much smaller, faster, leaner product library, consisting of the most common modern products.
  
• Expanded Hardware Detection
  The vsScan hardware scanner now collects more information than ever before.
  
• Sample Data
  Visual Audit X4 now includes sample PC audit data, product recognition libraries, criteria, licences and reports.
  
• Advanced Database Querying Support
  For those people who wish to get into the heart of the audit data, we've included a multitude of views to allow people to interface third party products with the data, without having to understand X4's internal table structure.
  
• Revamped Help System
  The in-built Audit Guide, context sensitive help file and PDF manual have all been combined into a single hotlinked html based help system that can be accessed from either inside the product or stand-alone.
  
• Flexible Database Installer
  For novice users the installer includes the Microsoft SQL Express 2005 and it will download any dependencies it may require as well as configure it for multi-user access. Whilst allowing advance users to just install the product itself and use an existing database server.
  
• Plus dozens of other enhancements
  Based on user feedback, we've been implementing many of the suggestions we receive to make the software more appealing and easier to use.
